Our Heirloom Cacao Beans are a special gift from Tanzania, where families have been growing cacao trees for generations. They carefully tend to these trees, ensuring they produce the best beans possible.

The Cacao Farmers in the Kilombero Valley (Tanzania) have practiced organic agriculture by default for generations.
Due to the historical absence of synthetic inputs, their Cacao trees have been cultivated without pesticides, inorganic fertilisers, or chemical interventions.
This natural approach was formally validated in 2015 when the farms successfully passed their first organic audit. Since then, they have been audited annually to maintain certification standards.

From Tanzania to South Africa
After being harvested in Tanzania, the quality-graded, special selection of fresh, flavour-filled beans are shipped directly to South Africa, then artisanally prepared in Cape Town and ground to a fine liquor. This liquor is as close as you can get to eating the bean itself.

Embrace the Ceremonial Cacao ritual with these mindful steps:
🕯️ Set Sacred Space: Create tranquility by lighting a candle, burning incense, or playing soothing music to cultivate a sacred atmosphere.
🔥 Boil Purified Water: Heat purified or spring water just below boiling to preserve the delicate flavours of the Cacao.
🍫 Measure Cacao: Aim for a daily serving of 20-25g / 0.71oz-0.88oz or a Ceremonial dose of 40-45g / 1.41oz-1.5oz to suit your preference.
✨ Add Spices (Optional): Enhance your brew with cinnamon, cardamom, cayenne pepper, ginger, ground / pod of vanilla, organic maca powder or your choice of sweetener (see below) for a personalized flavour experience.
✨ Life Within's sweetening suggestion: Blended dates (1 mejdoul date per person) in hot water for natural sweetness - or - organic honey, coconut blossom sugar / coconut sugar (1/4 teaspoon per 125ml of cacao liquid serving containing 20g cacao serving)
🌀 Stir with Intention: Stir the Cacao clockwise with a wooden spoon or whisk, focusing on intentions such as clarity, healing, or gratitude.
⏳ Infuse with Love and Patience: Let the Cacao simmer gently for 10-12 minutes on low heat, infusing the brew with your loving energy. Ensure to remove from heat source as soon as steam arises - do not let it bubble as the superfood ingredients are very sensitive to high temperatures.
☕ Pour and Serve Mindfully: Pour the warm Ceremonial Cacao into your favourite mug. Hold it close, expressing gratitude for the journey ahead.
